CHOIR RULES

NORMAL PRACTICES
1. Choir starts at 3.30pm SHARP every Monday and Thursday. Those who are late WILL BE PUNISHED. (Sec 2s are given 10 mins extra ONLY ON COMMON TEST DAYS. If you are late due to lessons, ask your teacher to write a letter.)

2. Practices after a concert/performance are AS PER NORMAL unless stated otherwise. (Please DO NOT make your own deductions. If unsure, ASK!!!)

3. When silence is called for, COMPLETE SILENCE is expected IMMEDIATELY. Please help notify those around you who are still talking/whispering. Those who are still talking will be PUNISHED.

4. When asked to move, do so BRISKLY.

5. Announcements will be made at the END OF EVERY PRACTICE. NO ONE is to leave until all announcements are made. Please listen carefully as announcements WILL NOT BE REPEATED.

6. If you are to miss a practice, you have to inform your SL at least 1 DAY in advance.

7. Choir practice is an OFFICIAL school activity. (DO NOT make up tuition/go for party blah blah………on an official choir day.)

8. Please ask parents to come at 6.15pm to allow announcements to be made.



EXTRA/HOLIDAY PRACTICES
1. Attendance for these practices will be taken into account for performances/concerts/overseas trips. Please come for these practices regularly.

2. Any important practice (e.g. rehearsals conducted by Mrs. Lee’s orders) is STRICTLY COMPULSORY. (If you have tuition, CHANGE IT)

3. If you are unable to attend, inform SLs at least 1 DAY in advance.

4. PUNCTUALITY STILL APPLIES.

5. Special practices (e.g. after school performances/the afternoon right after exams) are STRICTLY COMPULSORY. They are still counted as official practices, so please turn up.



OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
1. Every practice missed has to be covered by an MC/letter. Pass them to your SLs, NOT the teachers.

2. Maximum 2 MCs and 2 letters PER TERM.

3. If we are at an external venue, NO ONE is to go anywhere without informing the Comm or teachers i/c.

4. When attention is called for, TOTAL SILENCE and FULL ATTENTION are expected IMMEDIATELY. (Those who do not WILL BE PUNISHED SEVERELY when we get back to school)

5. Disobedience, defiance and bad attitude WILL NOT BE TOLERATED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. (Serious cases will be referred to discipline mistress)

6. Please note that every decision made by the Comm and teachers is FINAL. (Like it, good. Don’t like it, too bad.)

7. Privileges (e.g. parties/shorter practices/longer breaks) will be awarded according to how well the whole choir behaves. Therefore, please work together.



PS: CLAIMING IGNORANCE TO THESE RULES WILL NOT SPARE ANYONE PUNISHMENT.

These rules may seem harsh at first, but you will get used to it. The level of discipline the choir has is ABOSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL. Please try to understand that the Comm is really trying to push the choir to its maximum potential. You will soon learn that though we sing well, but lack discipline, we will NEVER go far. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please don’t make life difficult for us as we are merely doing our job. There is a time and place for everything. Put yourself in the shoes of a Comm member and ask yourself how you would like to be treated.

The Comm are choir members like you, so we understand that school is tough sometimes. We all go through the same thing. If countless seniors before you can cope, so can you. Also, be assured that any comments, suggestions or feedback from you are seriously considered. However, as we have more experience in certain areas, please trust and respect our decisions.
Please also appreciate whatever we have done, though it might not be the best. There is a reason why you have costumes to wear, concerts to sing in, parties to attend etc. We are the ones who are doing all the ‘behind-the-scenes’ work. DO NOT take us and these things for granted.

We only want to make your time in the Crez Choir the best that it can be. We recognize and acknowledge good effort and the choir will be rewarded handsomely if everyone does well.

Making the choir succeed is not just the job of the Comm and teachers. Let us WORK TOGETHER to make choir the best CCA ever!!!
